MAGA poison threatens a world based on cooperation, solidarity and rules

The Global North or the so-called The West has long led the world. Initially, this leadership was a colonialist and capitalist extractivism that sought to control natural resources and economic hegemony. The Second World War is a milestone and a watershed, after which the world sought to build international cooperation and a rule-based world order. The competition for control of the world and its resources escalated into the Second World War, after which the UN, the EU and cooperation and international institutions rose from its ashes. After World War II, the West became the value leader.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, a unipolar world order led by the West emerged.  The West was very united for a long time, until the very last few years, until the extreme right, right-wing populists and Trump started shaking its unity. The rise to power of the extreme right and Trump are part of Russia and China’s plans to destabilize the West so that their power will rise again. The tentacles of China and Russia are already deep in Africa and South America. The role of the West has weakened and their share of the global economy has decreased, while the rest of the world has grown at the same time.

Trump: ”I don’t rule out the use of military force to get Greenland”

”Denmark has no right to Greenland, if it ever did”

This is a crazy-sounding comment on 20.1. Donald Trump, who is returning to the presidency of the USA, presented yesterday. This is extremely serious. No one would have dared to make such crazy and outrageous claims and demands before. According to international agreements, Greenland belongs to Denmark, which is an EU and NATO country, also an ally of the USA. Trump is clearly thirsty for Greenland’s oil and minerals. Tesla owner Elon Musk is certainly also interested in Greenland’s rare earth metals. They would like to turn Greenland into a mining reserve. Trump also said in his statements that he would conquer the Panama Canal, connect Canada as a province to the USA with economic sanctions, change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, stop the construction of wind power and open the huge Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska for economic use. Trump’s policy is poison for environmental protection, social development and global society. MAGA is poison.

Trump is seriously shaking and destabilizing the world order based on international cooperation and common rules and the connection of the West. Trump is, in many ways, a megalomaniac and narcissistic figure like Hitler, who is now seeking to restore America’s superpower status and geopolitical dominance like it was more than a century ago. Last time he was more of a protectionist, now he is becoming a geopolitical conqueror like Putin.

The unity of the Western community of values is based on a common base of values, where democracy, freedom and equality, the ideals of the Enlightenment, are central. In the West, around 600 BC, something extremely great was born and they are science and democracy, these ways of thinking born in Ancient Greece have led the West and the world towards a better place. Scientific knowledge and democracy have created a better and happier world for a couple of thousand years. Later, Christianity with its principles of love of neighbor, humanism in Holland and Italy in the 15th century, and the Enlightenment in England and France in the 17th century joined the cultural heritage of the West. These are the most valuable cultural heritage of the West and the most valuable gifts to the world. They eventually led to the UN and the International Declaration of Human Rights, a common base of values for the whole world. Many major agreements, such as the Paris Climate Agreement, the Montreal-Kunming Biodiversity Agreement and Agenda 2030 with goals such as eradicating poverty and hunger from the world, are the same continuum.

When the USA became independent in 1776, it was the first democratic republic. Now, for the first time since the Civil War and the Confederacy, US democracy is under threat because of Trum. Trump and his Republican supporters directly represent the same continuum as the Confederacy and the Ku Klux Klan. Trump is a ruthless autocrat, a greedy playboy and a racist who only Congress can stop in his quest for power.

Trump is so dangerous that he can break the West that has been leading the world. He can destroy international cooperation and a rule-based world based on common institutions. This is extreme stupidity, selfishness and cowardice. Trump is like a leader from a completely different era, he lives in the world of the past and his policies will cause a lot of setbacks for the good development of the earth. At worst, he will destroy the entire West and the unipolar world. This does not only mean the West, but long after the Second World War the majority of the world’s countries have committed to promoting world integration and connection, social justice, environmental protection, economic cooperation… All this means a unipolar world. The UN is based on the common values of the whole world. All of this is now taking a serious hit with Trump’s rise to power.

The reason for Trump’s rise to power is largely disinformation and populism, offering easy solutions to complex problems. Russia and China have their keys in the game. Russia and China are served by disinformation, which undermines world unity and a unipolar world. The BRICS countries, i.e. China, India, Brazil, etc. including many rogue states, are a bloc of undemocratic countries that is fairly loose but has a common interest in destabilizing the West and the rules-based world order so that dictators can run amok and do whatever they want.

The way of the world should specifically lead to connection and the global goals should be to strive for cooperation and the deepest possible integration. Unity in diversity. Immanuel Kant already stated in 1795 in his work Eternal Peace that the world must unite, and this will end all wars and change the constant competition between states into world cooperation to create a better tomorrow.
