The Munich meeting was a disaster. America led by Trump betrayed Europe’s trust. Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen commented: ”The United States has a mixed bag.” Now French President Macron has called an emergency meeting of European countries in Paris. A coherent line has emerged for Europe in Paris. ”Europe is ready to take action,” says NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez: ”Peace in Ukraine and European security are two sides of the same coin” Denmark’s Frederiksen: ”Russia is not a threat to Ukraine alone, but to all of us”

In Paris, all European countries recognize that Russia is a threat to the whole of Europe and are ready to defend Ukraine, increase military cooperation across Europe and invest significant sums in their armed forces as a single front. Europe has a clear leading position and superiority over Russia in terms of morale, military technology and equipment, training and expertise of troops, and intelligence. When Europe stands together against Russia, Russia has no chance of defeating Europe militarily. Paris shows how the whole of Europe has now woken up to the Russian threat and Europe is being built into an unbreakable fortress.

Putin’s goal is probably to achieve a short-term peace with Ukraine on tough terms, then build up his military forces for years and attack again. Only force can make Putin back down from his plan, and Europe must now show Putin its strength, because the only help coming from America is Canada. Canada is also a strong ally, which participated with the greatest force, for example, in the Normandy landings. Putin has noticed the growing importance of the Arctic region due to climate change. Over the past ten years, Russia has built over 100 bases in the Arctic region. Russia may be aiming for, for example, Svalbard and Greenland. NATO must now definitely increase its presence in the Arctic region.

Trump is now negotiating the fate of Ukraine in his own style, i.e. alone, without Ukraine and President Zelensky, with Putin and Russia. This is shameless and downright outrageous. History has before decided the fate of independent states between great powers… Like the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, in which Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union divided Finland, the Baltics and Poland into their spheres of influence. This started the Second World War. History often repeats itself. The fate of Ukraine determines the entire future world order. If Ukraine falls, Putin will attack the heartlands of Europe.
